The warning signs of an imminent safety event with potential to cause harm aren’t always obvious. Your team is absorbed in their day-to-day functions and focused on the task at hand, and as a result there are dangers that can easily be overlooked. SE Healthcare’s team of quality, safety, and six sigma experts serves as a non-biased third party with the ability to uncover serious operational flaws that can lead to the occurrence of a significant safety event.
While a proactive approach is best, sometimes the potential for harm is discovered too late. In times like this, the SE team is there for you to manage the event, help limit the extent of the damage, and reverse any negative impact to get things back and running like normal.
What do we look for?
The SE team works with you and your staff to help in the following ways:
- Support event management in real-time as serious safety events occur
- Analyze event management infrastructure / systems
- Evaluate events for quality improvement opportunities
- Evaluate events for clinical competencies and issues
- Provide a plan for implementing improvements involving events
To ensure the greatest level of success, we use a hands-on approach. Our clinical and risk management experts will work with you on-site to get a firsthand perspective of how your organization operates. They will interview key personnel involved with the event, thoroughly tour the facility, and review relevant clinical documentation, policies, and procedures.
After the process is complete, you will be provided with a confidential, comprehensive report based on the findings of the SE team’s review. The report contains detailed analysis of the never event and provides direction with recommendations, tools, and strategies to get your organization back on track.
A critical point of difference that SE offers is its partnership with Saxton & Stump, a prominent law firm with a large healthcare litigation, risk mitigation, and safety consultation practice.
